PLANNING THE CHALLENGE DAY

1. Goal Identification

Here is a resource to help you and your participating organization identify the goals you have for your facilitated experience.

2. Scheduling Low Ropes Facility

Once you are certified we will add your name to the list of facilitators who are allowed to check out the course key from BSD. Your first step will be to have the organizer of the party (which could be you) fill out the request form to schedule the event.

3. Preparing your Team for the Day

Use these forms to prepare your challenge team. The consent/release must be filled out and signed by all participants (or their parents, if they are minors) BEFORE they are allowed to participate in the portable program or low ropes course.

Participant Insurance

You are also responsible for acquiring 4-H special activitiy insurance coverage from American Income Life. At the Web site, under "Special Activities Coverage," click on "Apply Online Now!" Select "Plan #3" when you fill out the information.

4. Picking Up Key and Other Materials (Low Ropes)

The following items should be picked up by the day of the event:

1. Key and pocket guide
2. Helmets & Rope Gear
3. First Aid kit & blankets

   Student Services (2nd floor)

5. On the Course

You must have a working cell phone that can receive a signal while on the course.

Make sure you have a copy of everyone’s consent / release / risk of exercise forms with you at the course.

Accidents must be reported to the Challenge Manager within 24 hours
As soon as possible, make sure to fill out the incedent report form and contact the Challenge Course Manager listed on the back of the Pocket Guide.

6. Following the Event

Low Ropes Facilitators please return all of your;
   • consent / release forms
   • use report
   • evaluations
   • group enrollment report

to the BSD office when you return the key and training props.
