DA - Discovery

  • explore the outdoors and learn to appreciate the natural environment
  • learn about air, energy, forestry, marine life, soil, water, and wildlife
  • develop and demonstrate leadership skills
  • practice principles that restore the natural environment

  • learn personal development skills

DB - Science Discovery

  • explore the world of rocks and minerals
  • learn the basics of the 3R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle
  • understand the trees around you
  • learn about oceanography

DFB - EM* Power

  • identify waste management concerns and issues
  • understand how wast management concerns can become waste management issues

DBD - Water Resources

EM4855 - Protect our Water: Wally Otter Coloring Book
A coloring book that teaches gradeschoolers about water in our environment. Introduces them to the water cycle, conservation, and pollution control.

EM4864 - Experiencing Water Resources: A guide to Your River Basin, Studen Workbook
This teaching packet is designed for use with third, fourth, and fifth grade classes. It is tailored for teaching about the resources and issues within a self-created river basin. The student experiences it through the eyes of a single water droplet as it journeys along the entire basin network.

FISHING FOR ADVENTURE

MNBU7598 - Take the Bait
This guide focuses on the basic knowledge needed to have fun and be successful in the Sportfishing project. Youth will learn the basics of knot tying and casting, what type of tackle to use, how the aquatic environment can affect the fish populations, and some of the interactions between people and fish habitat.

MNBU7599 - Reel in the Fun
This guide challenges youth to make connections between all the concepts presented in the Sportfishing project. Activities include: learning the basic types of casting, making tackle, understanding the biological needs of fish and analyzing the relationship between fishing regulations and environmental concerns.

MNBU7600 - Cast into the Future
This activity guide provides opportunities for youth to develop their leadership skills, make their own artificial lures, explore aquatic ecology, and consider important ethical issues related to fish and fishing. Illustrated
