The authors wish to express their appreciation to all members of the Nooksack IPM Project Advisory Committee for taking the time to attend meetings and to comment specifically on this document as it was being drafted. Input from the Advisory Committee through all phases of this project has been a critical ingredient in the advancement of IPM in apples and this document in particular. The members of the Nooksack IPM Advisory Committee are listed below.

We are particularly grateful to those apple growers who cooperated with the IPM Mentoring and orchard scouting component of the Nooksack IPM Project. Their cooperation and involvement in field scouting allowed us to test and refine many of the sampling procedures discussed in this manual. They gave a significant amount of their time and we are confident that they will continue to support the principles of IPM in their apple-growing efforts. They are:

Merrie Copeland,
Derek Gavette of Sunny Ridge Farm, and
Tom Sewell of Apple Blossom Orchard.

A very special thanks also to Tom Thornton of Cloud Mountain Farm and John and Dorie Belisle of Bellewood Acres for their hospitality in providing sites for on-farm workshops and on-farm research efforts. Much of the data presented in several charts in this manual was generated from these farm sites.

Through the general support of the Nooksack IPM Project in numerous ways, the following orchardists have in one way or another made contributions which have influenced and added to this manual. Thanks to:

Suzanne Averre
Lawrence Benner
Clyde Fisher
Clay Gimmaka
Joseph Hoffman
Loren Taves

We are also grateful to Art Antonelli, WSU Extension Entomologist, Puyallup WA and Jim Rahe, plant pathologist, Simon Fraser University for their technical review of the manual. In addition Jim Rahe gave a significant amount of his time towards improving our understanding of anthracnose canker, a very serious disease which threatens tree survival and fruit production in this area. For this, we are very grateful.

We are glad for the support from both John Dunley and Gary Grove, WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee, for providing numerous slides which were scanned and incorporated into this manual. Finally, a special thanks to Karri McFarland, WSU Cooperative Extension, Whatcom County for her invaluable assistance in the layout and printing of this manual.
