Grant Number: GR9500265
Project Title: Nooksack Watershed Integrated Pest Management Project
Project Period: 2/15/95 through 6/30/99
Ecology Contacts: David Pater, Bellevue Regional Office
Funding, Total Budget: $233,438

Total 319 Expenditures to Date: $159,079
Printed 100 copies of the manual titled: "Integrated Pest Management for Raspberries, A Guide for Sampling and Decision-Making for Key Raspberry Pests in Northwest Washington". Sixty copies have been distributed to members of the Nooksack IPM Advisory Committee, to Whatcom County area raspberry growers, farm supply companies, and to selected growers and consultants from the Western Washington region who participated in the project.
This raspberry IPM manual and another publication written under this project, "Integrated Pest Management, Decision Making Tools for Farmers- Coping with Pest Variability" were converted to CD-ROM format. Thirty copies have been made to date. This CD-ROM version along with promotional materials was sent to 15 university and industry contacts in the Pacific Northwest.
The Nooksack IPM Coordinator gave an oral presentation titled: "Using the IPM Decision Making Guide for Raspberry Growers" at the December 11 Western Washington Small Fruit Workshop held in Lynden, Washington.
The final, remaining task of this project yet to be completed is an IPM Manual for Apple growers in Whatcom County. This has not been accomplished because the project manager had a full time commitment from April through September, 1998 managing the WSU On-Farm Raspberry Research Station in Lynden, which was an outgrowth of this IPM Project. Since October 1, the manager has been temporarily hired by WSU to write the "Red Raspberry Crop Profile", which will be submitted to the EPA for their evaluation during the implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act. This activity will be completed by December 31,1998.
Due to these other projects, which unfortunately delayed the completion of the Nooksack IPM Project, a final extension was requested and has been granted by Ecology which extends the deadline of this contract through June 30, 1999. This extension will provide the time necessary to complete the final remaining task of this project.
None. The intent is to complete the IPM Manual for Apple Growers by the end of the new contract period, June 30, 1999.
