Green Earth Technology
Green Earth Technology was the first company in the United States to use Gore technology. Developed in Germany, Gore technology integrates composting with Gore-Tex fabric, a waterproof, breathable membrane sandwiched between two polyester layers.
Gore-Tex fabric covering the compost lets atmospheric oxygen diffuse into the pile but limits the escape of methane gas and odors. Leachate is collected and recycled back into the pile. This novel technology effectively controls the sometimes undesireable effects of outdoor composting.
Green Earth composts only green waste: tree scraps, yard clippings and preprocessed foods. They have just begun a partnership with Sanitary Service to accept food waste from consumers and some grocery stores.
