Food Safety

Food safety risks present a significant financial threat to farmers, and on-farm production practices are critical for reducing the risk of pathogen prevalence in food products. Recent food borne outbreaks in produce and other food products have made consumers increasingly aware of food safety issues. Recent federal regulations (Food Safety Modernization Act) are requiring farmers to implement practices to reduce food-borne pathogen risks. Buyer demand for 3rd party certification has also increased the need for food producers to keep records and follow guidelines for Good Agricultural Practices.
