Community First! Gardens

Special Thanks - Update!

A special thanks to Wayne C. and Mary Ann Hanson of Bellingham who recently donated $1,000 to the WSU CFG Project.

Local Business Hohl's Feed and Seed donated over 200 Territorial Veggie seed packets to the CFG project. Thanks to Glenn Faber and the crew at Hohl's.

Mission and Goals

The CFG program provides financial and resource support for many community gardens.

OUR MISSION is to support neighborhoods in creating and maintaining community gardens in which residents can grow their own food.

As the program grows, we will continue to serve community gardens in Whatcom County, by providing educational workshops, resource material kits and mini grants to community gardens. In addition, the program partners with the WSU Master Gardener Program and provide garden mentoring for local community gardens.

CFG Project goals are to help expand access to community gardens, thereby increasing self-sufficiency and local food security with nutritious fresh produce; to provide opportunities for environmental education and stewardship of land; and to help create neighborhood gathering places that are welcoming to all.
