Family: Fabaceae (Leguminosae)
A woody shrub that grows as tall as 10 feet. It has more or less erect branches that are dark green. Flowers are yellow, pea shaped, and abundant. This is a widespread pest in the Northwest. Introduced as an ornamental, it has become one of our most aggressive pests. Where it is established, it can replace native vegetation. It should be eradicated wherever feasible.
