Nutrient Management Recordkeeping
Summary: For two growing seasons during 1996 through 1997 three dairy operators in Whatcom County, Washington participated with WSU Cooperative Extension in a project to identify on-farm nutrient flows of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. One result of this cooperative project was the development of a record keeping system to assist farmers with nutrief this project, and in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a series of nutrient record keeping forms were developed that meet Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) record keeping requirements.
The nutrient record keeping forms are available as downloadable hand written record forms (PDF format) and as a compiled spreadsheet computer program. Minimum requirement for the computer program is an IBM compatible computer running Windows 3.1 or higher.
Directions: To download the software, double click on Nutrient Record Keeping Program. Download the compressed file - nutrient.exe (1,570KB) – to a temporary file on your hard drive.
From windows “Run” type the path to nutrient.exe and press Enter. Or go to nutrient.exe and double click on the file name. Select an appropriate location for the unzipped files and click Unzip.
From windows “Run” type the path to setup.exe among the unzipped files and press Enter. Or go to setup.exe and double click on the file name. Follow the on-screen instructions. The install windshield will ask to insert disk 2, simply click OK at this point since disk 2 is part of the unzipped files.
To conserve disk space, after installation is complete you may erase the file nutrient.exe and all the files it created when it was unzipped.
