WSDA Drought Survey
Via Kelly McLain, WSDA
WSDA is working on a drought economic impact study. The first component of this study will focus on qualitative and quantitative data that is currently available regarding agricultural impacts from the 2015 drought. A second more in depth report will be completed next year, when NASS data is available. The data we collect will be used to prepare an economic assessment of this year’s drought and better target future drought funding and support.
This short 13 question survey should only take 2-5 minutes to complete and asks growers questions about drought impacts on yield, quality, and other factors. There are also questions applicable only to growers that used emergency drought wells this year. While the survey captures regional location as well as commodity groupings, it does not include any other identifier, protecting participant identity. This information will be used to characterize the drought impacts throughout the state in 2015.
Your partnership on getting this survey out to growers is key to the success of this study. We appreciate your assistance throughout this process. We are asking you and your partners to complete the survey no later than December 18, 2015. We know this turnaround time is tight, but the initial report for this project is due to Ecology prior to the 2016 legislative session.
